The 40 Days of Christmas
(November 16th - December 25th)
Now you may be asking yourself... "what is this '40 Days of Christmas' I've been hearing so much about." Well, let me share.
Clarifications first
It is the 40 Days OF Christmas, not the 40 Days TO Christmas. It is not a countdown, but rather when you can officially begin celebrating Christmas. Decorations, movies, music, etc. it can all begin on November 16th. Here's why....
Christmas is the greatest holiday
There's no arguing about it. Halloween doesn't even come close so forget it! Easter...Easter tries...but not so great. New Year's, just more like a day than a Holiday. Thanksgiving....screw Thanksgiving. I mean, I'm happy for it and everything, but all it's done my whole life is prohibit Christmas celebrating from happening when it should. Not anymore! No longer will Thanksgiving dictate when we can or cannot begin celebrating Christmas. No Holiday has more magic than Christmas, and you know it!
Why 40 days?
50 is too much, 30 is not enough! Let's look at it this way...October 1st rolls around, and it's immediately acceptable to start decorating for Halloween. Hell, the whole month is practically deemed spooky and is a celebration leading up to All Hollow's Eve. That means...Halloween gets 30 days. 30 full days of celebrating should one choose to do such.
With Christmas being such a superior Holiday, it deserves more than just 30 days. I can't think of them all right now, but I know there are several references to 40 days in the Bible also. Noah, Jesus in the desert for 40 days and more; therefore, I think little baby Jesus would want it this way. Not to mention, it just so happens to fall on November 16th...it begins as soon as November is officially 1/2 way over. How perfect is that?
So, this November 16th, feel free to begin wishing people a Merry Christmas. Bust out "It's A Wonderful Life" or "Elf" and just start taking in and celebrating the greatest Holiday all year. Everybody...join me, join me in the 40 Days of Christmas this year!
What can I do?
It's very simple actually. You can join by just celebrating early. Spread the word, let people know Christmas cheer can start much earlier! I think we all know the best way to spread holiday cheer is by singing loud for all to hear.
